I heard a rumor ( on tumblr) that it wasn't gabby's decision but her moms. Her mom thought gabby wasn't getting enough attention with 4 other elites at chows. Not sure if this is true or not just sharing a rumor.

I think her mom is the reason she's a headcase now. Mom is trying to cash in and run the show, and isn't getting what she wants. That's just my take on it, after reading everything, and hearing the sob story of their poorness over and over. Well, really? There are a lot of gymnasts who go through the same thing to keep training, Gabby is not alone in the "we can't really afford this" gymnastics struggle. I clean bathrooms to keep my daughter in the gym, and we can't afford to make a bunch of unofficial visits, or attend college camps to expose her to more places so we can market her to get an offer for a scholarship. So tired of hearing that story like Gabby is alone in the struggle to pay for training.
Someone should have stepped in and told her mother to back off, but she probably wouldn't have listened. If she's looking for a new coach, like Chow said, I wonder who will be willing to take her?

no, this one is NOT true. :)

can't touch that...:)

There are a lot of rumors floating out there. I do not have any personal knowledge, but the one that strikes me as being most likely is that there was a trial period during which Gabby had to show that she was serious about a come back and willing to train full time and she did not do this. Chow was willing to take her back on the condition that she stop focusing on her "celebrity" appearances and get back to the gym. When she failed to do that she had to go. Chow now has 4 serious elite gymnasts and does not need Gabby coming and using his gym to stage a "come back" which is not real. Perhaps Dunno knows if this is what happened.

Don't the fake comebacks usually pop up much closer to the Olympics?

Nastia and Shawn both tried coming back too late.

No idea what Aly or Kyla have been doing.

Is Jordan training at all?

Actually being around other elites might be good for her to light a fire under her ***.

Who knows. But like last quad, she doesn't even have a guaranteed slot with all the new talent coming up.

Definitely seems like all of the decisions might have been directed by her mother. It is sad to me that Gabby is getting a bad reputation based on her family, and my opinion is that it's a wonder that she succeeded in spite of the parental control, and maybe a testament to Gabby's personal character and talent. I know that she is older now, but I can only guess that she feels pulled in a million directions. I would have loved to see her come back, just so she doesn't get chalked up as a fluke - I really don't think she deserves that.

Aly took a year off but then went back into training with Mihai. I personally doubt she will really make it back, but it is a sincere effort. Kyla took no time off and has been competing consistently. Three silver medal at the last worlds. Jordan has not been competing. She finished High School, then did her first year in college at UCLA. She is the "team manager" because she went pro and can't compete NCAA. I think she is basically retired but has not said so. Mckayla was competing consistently too -- took the gold in vault at worlds. But she has been plagued with injuries this year and missed the last few camps with the Karolyis. I do not see any of them going to Rio -- McKayla never became an AA and even though her vault is still state of the art, Simone Biles is right behind her, plus she is an AA. Simone is one of the most outstanding gymnasts I have ever seen. And Kyla is very good and very consistent, but she really needs to upgrade. Unless they really need lots of help on bars and beam I do not see her going to Rio. As you say, there is a ton of serious talent coming up and with the exception of Simone i think we should be watching the juniors now.

Kyla needs to do the one thing that's more important than upgrades. After that, if she's going for Rio, she needs her upgrades sometime before then but not necessarily right now.

Also, McKayla competed in the AA at the last Worlds and I think she has always trained all events. That was pretty smart since I think it turned out to be pretty hard for specialists to make the US Olympic team last time. The fact that she could do all events probably helped her bid for the team. The US isn't exactly shy about leaving World Champions home.

Didn't know about McKayla's injuries though I though Aly was training as was Kyla (I remember her silvers now).

I know Jordan was working at UCLA but hadn't heard if she was actually training.

Realistically, Kyla and Mckayla are the only two that have much of a chance of Rio. Gabby is done, and Jo and Aly will either do a last minute run or not come back at all but neither will make he team I don't think.

I am not sure of the extent of her training. But she says she trains in the morning (at UCLA with Chris Waller) before the team.

Yes she probably does if she wants to be number one, but I am pretty sure Kyla and her coaches know this. Perhaps her coaches are being smart. Elite gymnastics is becoming more and more difficult and hard on the body. If the next goal is Rio then I can see logic in holding back and ensuring a gymnast can actually make it to the main event in tact. After all they don't give Olympic medals to the girl who peaked mid quad and sits at home in a cast during the Olympics. Don't you think she would be upgrading if she could and/or it was advantageous to the long term plan?

no, that is not what happened.

I loved the Fab 5 in London, but I think Kyla has the only chance at Rio. I am anxious for summer 2016 :).
